Awaiting the opening doors at GC40Deuce..
Everyone was looking a little woozy on the way home.
Or maybe...
...it was just me.

High Street buzzing with activity.
Woman with sharp overcoat - hat combo on Fulton platform.
On 4 just before power went out.
Power went out on tracks ahead of us between BK Bridge and Union Sq., some grumbling and people get to their...
...electronic devices (woman from Fulton platform again). Since back of train was still in station, initial plan was to empty car through back. That plan never materialized. But after much discussion over the PA system...
...ahh, moving again after 15 minutes, liked the magenta stars on her hat.
Stared sketch at Fulton, but no time at all, so continued from an uncomfortable perch on the 4.
Finally got a cozy place to lean from Union Sq. to GC40Deuce. Guy in the middle had a very pleased, yet dim, look on his face, and was rocking the George Michael stubble.
..played a little cat and mouse for the few moments I had on the platform to draw this guy. He'd look and look past, playing it off as I was drawing someone down the platform. He had kind of an "Urban Sherpa" look going.
4 was hectic to Union Sq...
..but cleared out nicely for the last leg to GC40deuce where there was a mass exodus.
..the lovely lady ignoring me while waiting for the uptown train at Clark street...
...this guy got cozy on the end of the bench on the 2...
..some severe faces at the end of the car...
...switched to the 1 at Times Square, this couple was doing a lot of nuzzling and other PDAs til we all hopped off at Columbus Circle.
Jet black hair with some gray around the temple.
She was twisting all around, hence her cubist appearance.
This guy was had a grizzly edge, caught him just as he was getting off to catch the great white whale.
Lady on the left had the craziest bun I had ever seen and some red Phil Collins gloves. Lady on the right seemed less than amused by me.
But I couldn't quite capture, it just right for some reason...
..so I became obsessed...
...but it wasn't right....
....last ditch effort with seconds to go on the ride, but I'm afraid....no dice.
Big knit cap giving way to lots of blond hair, but never really saw any eyes. She had a cool bag though.
Shaggy kid bopping his way back to Brooklyn.
...guy reading paper leaning on the High Street sign...
....anticipating the 4 at Fulton...
...crowded into seat at Union Sq., but all I could see from that vantage point was the mid-sections of the dudes crammed in in front of me. A little uncomfortable, but started to get some abstract things happening.
Ladies reading...
...tall good looking woman, short funny dude....
...Chasidic man with rim bent out cowboy style.
Composite of quickies from High St. and Fulton Street Platforms
This guy had crazy severe and moving face bones...
Gold frosted punk rock hairdoo, sleeping old guy, iPodder shadowing me the whole trip...
Started getting into the folds and creases on her windbreaker.
The mellowness of the early hour was offset by the tardiness of the train. The guy on the right had ants in his pants and a sour on his puss.
My man on the left ducked outta site as soon as he made me.
This guy on the 5 train was immaculately groomed (too bad my loose hand doesn't let that shine through). Buzzed side and flat top alla 80s Rude Boy. Not a hair out of place on the beard.
Extreme close-up. Dude next to me was like "Shit, am I gonna end up in dat book?" I asked if he wanted to, he didn't.
Quick Sketch on the A.
So I started drawing this lady transit cop at Fulton street, one wearing the orange vests. I was a good 30-40 feet away, but after a few seconds of sketching, she comes up to me and wants to see it asking if I was that guy that draws on the train and wanting to see. I answered that I was one of them, but I didn't want to show her as she was a little on the heavy side and I also do not particularly flatter in my depictions. Finally I showed her, she took it in stride, but I felt kinda bad....
Pushing up to the front of the stage at Fulton ST.
All these fur collars on the train are probably what's making me sick...
..full of germs, dust mites and whatnot.
In my malaise, my spelling part of the brain gave out on me...
Big dude who from the looks of his shirt was a cook or somethin'.
These guys were an interesting contrast during the few minutes they spent crammed together between to GC40Deuce...
Platform at GC40Deuce....
These guys were having a FAAAAAascinating conversation...
Head down in stroller with something to read, no eye contact, city baby learning early...
Quick ride on the A, High to Jay St...
...the Jay to Carroll on the F.
After the tour, back to Carroll Street.
Admittedly, the F train is pretty cozy.
F to...
She had huge hood, all sorts of sweaters and scarves draped over, and I think a baby with a sling somewhere under there.
...to West 4th. Transit worker ducked into well, just as E train rolled in.
Dude in center, had that just a bit crazy look, maybe it was just the eyebrows....

This guy managed to nab a seat.
Finally got the good door leaning spot (to hell with "No se apoye contra la puerta"), to catch this nice lineup of folks.
In retrospect...
...the Giant's Blue...
was fitting.
...-Hasidic man with super beard - ...
... -she had all sorts of intersting things going, bright red scarf, technicolor bag draping in all sorts of cool ways, great gestures-...
...so got a couple of nice drawings in. Unfortunately, crowd got a bit more crowded at Union Sq. There was like half a seat next to me and this woman decides she needs to squeeze in. Now I'm not one of those dudes who sits with his legs spread eagle, but at 6'4", 240 lbs I need a little space, especially when drawing, and she was 30ish and looked to be in good health, so not sure why she felt the need to crowd into tiny slot. So this last one was done in a bit of a cramped style. She got off one stop later, hope it was worth it lady....
Left early to finish up presentation at work, so I was on train about an hour earlier than usual. The result was not being able to get any sort of decent drawing perch. Frustrated as we approached GC40Deuce, I just took a quick look around and tried to remeber t he scene best as could. When I hopped off, hung out on the platform for a couple of minutes to scratch this out. Lady with the hat had insisted on shoving in at Bowling Green, regardless of the fact that there was probably a train in sight behind us, and then had to make make a big deal about it. C'mon people....
