Fun on the A to 5 Combo (6-10-08)

Expressive couple on the High Street platform, 10 seconds later they were fondling each other...

She probably wasn't into new wave, but it did bring me back to '85....

Woman sundress reading on teh Fulton St, platform. She had her moth gaped open in a funny way, like she was thinking about something odd and it was subconciously translating to her expression...or maybe she was trying to catch flies froggy style.

Recently permed....

Thursday Morning A to the 4 (5-15-08)

Fidgety teenager caught in a contemplative pose.

Big man with a baby face and lots of golden locks.A very Bumpy ride, was like the A was being chased by Rosco Pico Train...

Started on the Fulton platform, finished on the 4 drawing random folks....

Heavily Armed at Fulton! (Monday, 5-12-08)

When I got to Fulton st. there were several heavily armed cops with m16s. Had a few seconds to sketch one as train rolled in. Didn't see Osama though.

Reading paper from BK Bridge to Union SQ.

Started this drawing with guy in left mid ground, as he was a great caricature and spread out. Guy in foreground could used a little neck grooming. Maybe I'll try and sell this as an ad to Schick.

Some Chisel Point Action on the Lex Ave. IRT (Friday, 5-2-08)

This woman and her significant other pushed in front of me on the already crwoded platform as they walked up. So my revenge was to draw her. She saw me and took a look. Not sure how flattered she was, but hey, its not my job to flatter.

5 Train mosh.

The NYPD are on the Case this Mornin' (Tuesday, 4-29-08)

The police were "inspecting" every train at Fulton St. (stopping each train in the station and peering into the packed cars). Not really enough time to find a terrorist threat or whatever they were looking for, but just enough to congest the line and cause an extra miserable commute for everyone. Score: Osama 1, NY Straphangers 0.

Wednesday Morning (4-2-08)

Quick sketch on Fulton Platform.
This guy was doing some bionic man thumb moves on his organizer.

The fluid sea of folks on the 4.

Tuesday Morning (3-11-08)

Been a crazy few days, with work work and trying to get a quick trailer done for this animation I'm working on, Elevator Mosh. I'm a few days behind on posts, so there may be a smorgasborg of drawings coming up today. Here's the first couple...
Boarding 4 at Fulton...

Some folks on the 4.

MOb Scene at Fulton Street (Wednesday, 3-5-08)

When I got to Fulton Street platform, it was like 10 deep, obviously had been some sort of problem. Tried to depict the push, and didn't bother trying for the 1st train. Had to wait for third, bt they came in quick succession.

Tried a couple of times to capture her as she read. The truth was somewhere in the middle...

Everyone Grab the Pole! (Monday, 3-3-08)

Everyone grabbing the pole, first person to let go loses.

The platform crowd at Fulton. A guy came up to me, interested in my activities. He asked if I was a cartoonist and wanted me to draw him. He had actually been in my line of sight earlier, but had move about too much. I told next time he needed to stand still.

Catching some Zs on the 4.

Reading the paper with file folder perched on the garbage can at High St.

POWER OUTAGE! (Wednesday, 2-27-08)

High Street buzzing with activity.

Woman with sharp overcoat - hat combo on Fulton platform.

On 4 just before power went out.

Power went out on tracks ahead of us between BK Bridge and Union Sq., some grumbling and people get to their...

...electronic devices (woman from Fulton platform again). Since back of train was still in station, initial plan was to empty car through back. That plan never materialized. But after much discussion over the PA system...

...ahh, moving again after 15 minutes, liked the magenta stars on her hat.

Tuesday Morning and I'm Tired (2-26-08)

Stared sketch at Fulton, but no time at all, so continued from an uncomfortable perch on the 4.

Finally got a cozy place to lean from Union Sq. to GC40Deuce. Guy in the middle had a very pleased, yet dim, look on his face, and was rocking the George Michael stubble.

This Morning - The Israelites! (Monday, 2-25-08)

Had a little Desmond Dekker on the iPod this AM...
..played a little cat and mouse for the few moments I had on the platform to draw this guy. He'd look and look past, playing it off as I was drawing someone down the platform. He had kind of an "Urban Sherpa" look going.

4 was hectic to Union Sq...
..but cleared out nicely for the last leg to GC40deuce where there was a mass exodus.

Thursday Morning! (2-21-08)

Not much drawin'time this morning, some quick moments...
...guy reading paper leaning on the High Street sign...

....anticipating the 4 at Fulton...

...crowded into seat at Union Sq., but all I could see from that vantage point was the mid-sections of the dudes crammed in in front of me. A little uncomfortable, but started to get some abstract things happening.

Sorry, Didn't Mean to Make You Feel Bad....(Friday, 2-15-08)

Quick Sketch on the A.
So I started drawing this lady transit cop at Fulton street, one wearing the orange vests. I was a good 30-40 feet away, but after a few seconds of sketching, she comes up to me and wants to see it asking if I was that guy that draws on the train and wanting to see. I answered that I was one of them, but I didn't want to show her as she was a little on the heavy side and I also do not particularly flatter in my depictions. Finally I showed her, she took it in stride, but I felt kinda bad....

Tuesday Am Train Mosh on the 5 (2-12-08)

Pushing up to the front of the stage at Fulton ST.
All these fur collars on the train are probably what's making me sick...
..full of germs, dust mites and whatnot.

Commute in the Midst of the GIANTS Celebration (Tuesday, 2-5-08)

Was a bit of a hectic commute to midtown as I felt kinda like a Salmon swimming upstream againt the massive current of Giants fans flowing into lower Manhattan for ticker tape parade.
In retrospect...
...the Giant's Blue...
was fitting.
