Aviators and Facial Hair on the 3 Train (Friday, 11-20-09)
Riding the 3 to Chambers Street from Grand Army Plaza on a Friday mornin'. Focus was much on Beardy with the black cap that the woman in foreground becomes camouflaged, appears almost taking form of the body, reminding me of Shel Silverstein in her whimsied napping contrasting his intense, albeit a bit ironic, appearance.

i really like your sketches. how long do you need (minutes/seconds) for one sketch?
thanks. they range anywhere from 30 seconds to about 10 minutes on the train - and then i finish color at home. time depending on how long a composition holds or the whims of the train gods.
thanks for the informations. 30 seconds is really fast. but your pictures have real character and this in such a short time ... respect!
one question yet. how long does it, to be able to draw so quickly?
apologize my english, i am not a native speaker.
i dunno, just a lot of practice in the subway or otherwise drawing people in public - it challenges you to get the info down quick. 30 seconds are really some of the quick gesture drawings you see in here. generally i spend a few minutes on them.
