Bad Trip Back from the BK (Tuesday, 8-9-11)

Back in NYC for a few, took the opportunity to take Griff to see his doc at Grand Army while we were here. What shoulda been an easy ride back to the UES turned into a major whiny mission. Griff temporarily quelled by Twizzlers.

Planned on grabbing the 4/5 at Nevins for the ride up to 86th, but it was not meant to be. At Nevins announced that some knucklehead train was broken down at Wall st, sending everyone West. Griff was already in rare form, and by the time the 2 hit Manhattan he was already breaking down. The sugar rush wearing off as I dragged him off the 2 at TS42nd, up to the shuttle, across to GCFortyDeuce, and finally boarding a mosh pit 6 train up to 86th and Lex. All in all a pleasant 90 minutes of transit. Thanks MTA! Its good to be back home.

Pushy, Pushy (MOnday, 6-2-08)

Woman with puffy sleeves on a crowded platform at GC40Deuce.

Extra pushy shoviness on the 4, my big bag not helping any space issues.
This guy had an uncharacteristically cartoon like upper lip motion going on.

Got a little more breathing room after Fulton...

Friday Morning (5-30-08)

High St.
Whatever she was reading musta been ill to create such a disagreeable expression...

He asked to see drawing as we were getting off the train at GC40deuce, not sure if he was excited about how he was portrayed.

Homeward Bound (Tuesday, 5-20-08)

Platform got pretty jammed up by the time the 5 arrived, everyone was keeping there head down as if the weight of the crowd was bearing down on itself.

Someone had the courage to look up, although he just seemed to be staring off into space...

Fun hair but a very severe reading expression.

Another shot of fun-hair-severe-reading expression in the foreground. Woman behind with green coat seemed to offset her tension with a very rounded, relaxed presence.

Monday PM Rush (5-19-08)

Few minutes between trains at GC40Deuce so it got a little cozy on the platform.

She had a little fuzzy puppy she was tending too...

Another straphanger with a some sleep standing skills.

Its Friday Afternoon and Someone Smells Bad (5-16-08)

On teh platform at GC40Deuce, catch some faint wiffs of an unpleasant odor, kind of a rotten fish, briney, vomitous industrial canal type deal.

Get on the last car of the 4. The smell has followed me. Could it be me? I smell my sweatshirt, definitely not, I still smell like Tide. I glance around and identify the source. Drunk as a skunk by the door a large mustached man gently harranging other riders who are trying to laugh him off (not him depicted above, by the time I saw him no drawing opportunity was teneable). Man was swaying in a bad way and I feared a disasterous heave was on the way. Luckily he stumbled (almost tragically) off the Train at Fulton before that could happen, likely to become the problem of an unfortunate car on the A train.

As everyone silently silently let out a collective sigh of relief.

Monday Evening (5-12-08)

4 ladies of different styles on the platform at GC40Deuce.

The hand rail allows for standing sleep on the 4 Train.

Freestanding drawing on the 2 train. Can be dangerous biz, look what happened to that dude's nose....

Trip to Work Shoot (Wednesday, 5-7-08)

Stopped by work shoot in Greenpoint. Grabbed the 7 at Grand Central to LIC and hopped Pulaski bridge...

The guy in the bg was a young version of the Walter character in the Big Lebowski.

GET IN MY WAY AND.....i might draw you (Wednesday, 4-30-08)

This guy found that out the hard way on the GC40Deuece platform as the 5 rolled in.

Rocking the BRIGHT yellow jacket, it wasn't even raining today.

Had to get off at...

..Bowling Green and wait for the 4 :(

Thursday (4-24-08)

Express platform at GC40Deuce, again. Ho-hum, I need some new stations....

1st sketch on 4 train. Got into that ponytail just a little bit.

Crowd shifts and my man is perched just to my right. But quickly crowd shifts again and he's out of sight.

Big man groovin' in stripes and black leathery cap.

Midday Errand to Brooklyn No-Man's Land (Wednesday, 4-23-08)

Had to run a little errand to Brooklyn to the remarkably-difficult-to-reach-by-rapid-transit-area that lies on the edge of the Navy Yard somewhere in between Clinton Hill, Williamsburg and Oblivion....

A few moments on the 7 platform at GC4oDeuce. High ceiling in there and started drawing hanging structures, but 7 train rolled in quickly.

2 of a group of 4 girls on the 7 train, the other 2 to the left were more giggly, these 2 were the wet blankets I guess.

Middle aged man with cane on the G Train from Queens to Classon Ave. Been many years since I've ridden this stretch and its interesting mix of folks (especially in the middle of the day).

Midday super hero on right, giant grey manchu beard, crazy specs, competetive running uniform, visor and big bun of hair tied tightly atop his head. Unfortunately he jetted just as I noticed him. Started drawing the young lady on the right but then we were at Classon.

Sick Passenger on a Friday Afternoon (4-18-08)

The platform at GC40Deuce.

Was perched on back car to car door of the 4, but everyone had their back to me so all just started becomg geometry.

So because of a sick passenger at Fulton, had to switch to the Brooklyn Bound M at BK Bridge/City Hall. After walking enough to seemingly having brought myself to back to Brooklyn already, I arrived at the DT and Brooklyn bound M station. The M had the common decency to show up quickly.

Chinese woman had two of the most impossibly cute and ridiculously squirmy kids to manage on the M train.
